Childhood Bad Dreams

A lot of children have bad dreams. When I was a child I would have them fairly often. I would dream about weird things and now 20 some years later I still remember a few of the dreams I had. I thought I would share one with you. This was my reoccurring nightmare. You could mention his name and my mom would start talking about him. My nightmare was about an alien named Kevin. Yes, he was an alien and he was named Kevin. Why he was an alien I don’t know? I also don’t know why his name was Kevin? Kevin would come visit me and then when he got mad he would turn in to a mean queen.

Yes, I will recap that for you, when I was little I had nightmares about an alien named Kevin and when he got mad he would turn in to a mean queen. It would scare me so much. Not just to the point where I would wake up and cry, but to the point where I would go crawl in bed with my parents. My mom would ask me if I had the Kevin dream again and I would cry and say yes. I must have had this dream every so often for at least a year. I have no idea what the point of it was. It’s not like I sat around watching alien shows I don’t think. The X-files wasn’t on yet, and I was really young so I was probably watching Sesame Street and other kid’s shows. Of course dreams aren’t meant to make any sense. So, yes I am weird. I still have weird dreams but I have been Kevin free for quite some time. Now, I just dream about other weird things.

How about you? Do you have weird dreams? Did you have any reoccurring dreams as a child?

  1. Girl, I hope Kevin never comes back.

I used to have really bad dreams about dogs and cats. They never were monsters and they never bit me. I am still scared of them til this day.

  2. My most horrible recurring nightmare as an adult is that I am in an accident with my kids in the car and I can't get them all out. Totally wake up screaming every time I have those nightmares. Ugh.

My recurring good dreams are about lying on the bank of a pond on our family farm on a blanket with a fishing pole fishing. I think it's my dreaming "happy place".

I don't remember any dreams I had as a kid except the ones where you feel like you're falling.
