Laird Superfood Review

I love food. I love to cook it. I love the taste and the smell. I find myself knowledgeable about it. When I don't know what, something is, I look it up. I was unfamiliar with the term Superfood. I had heard it before but I wondered what makes it super? While I was researching, I learned about a company called Laird Superfood.  Laird is a professional surfer who took his love of coffee to the next level. As result, Laird began to incorporate coffee into his daily dietary regimen which acted as the catalyst that set him on a wonderful journey in becoming a passionate coffee expert. A fan of rich, bold and complex blends, Laird sought to understand the processes of growing, picking, roasting and packaging high quality coffee.

Not leaving good enough alone and in Laird style, he sought to naturally enhance his premium coffee by formulating his Superfood Creamers™ consisting of nature's whole food ingredients.  After years of trial, Laird is ready to share his line of premium coffees and Superfood Creamer™ with the world Join him on his lifelong journey of maintaining optimal performance while living a healthy and fun life. For some reason, I thought that it would be more expensive than other products. I was pleasantly surprised to see the opposite.

I had the opportunity to partner with Laird Superfood and check out their amazing products. One of the things we were so excited to try out was the coffee. My mom is the biggest coffee snob. She only likes great full bodied coffee. She rarely gets coffee at restaurants or gas stations unless it's a coffee emergency. When I was on bed rest when I was pregnant with Noah, she would get coffee from the gas station when she spent the night. If she could have brought her coffee maker she would have. My mom travels with her coffee maker. She is serious about her coffee. Thankfully, I received two different types of coffee. I received the Peruvian organic medium coffee. It's a ground coffee. It's organic fair trade. It's also low medium acidity. It has a full body flavor and smells amazing.  The ingredients are 100% Arabica Organic Coffee. I also received the Peruvian Organic Espresso whole bean coffee.  The cool thing about all the coffee that Laird Superfood makes are grown at 4,500 feet and are harvested by hand. They use a wet process where the flesh is removed before drying so the flavor isn't tainted by the flesh during the drying process. Small batches of the beans undergo a specialized drum roaster. That allows for a longer slower roasting process which enables quality control and for the coffee to be more consistent. Laird Superfood uses a proprietary inert gas packaging system. This method will help prevent bacteria and for it to last longer.  Both types of coffee are amazing. It's rich and full bodied and you can taste the care they put in to it.
We also received Coconut Sugar. I have never even heard of coconut sugar. Coconut sugar is coconut nectar from the coconut blossom.  I had planned on having Noah trying it. I was sure he would say; I don't like coconut. I was curious how it tasted compared to the sugar I was used to. I didn't notice a difference really. It looks like brown sugar. Noah actually tried a tiny bit. He liked it. We don't eat plain sugar often. I use it as a substitute for regular sugar. It's really easy because it's a 1:1 exchange. That means you use the same amount as granulated sugar.

Laird Superfood™ Organic Coconut Sugar is derived from the nectar of coconut tree blossoms. It delivers a wonderfully sweet and nutty flavor along with minerals such as magnesium, potassium, zinc, iron and essential B vitamins. This product is verified low-glycemic, providing a healthier alternative to traditional sweeteners.

We received the LAIRD SUPERFOOD™ ENRICHED COCOA.  It's Dairy free and Gluten free. It's also Vegan and Soy free and non-GMO. We go through our fair share of cocoa while baking. Cocoa is something I enjoy cooking with. I have a few old standards I use cocoa in. Not all cocoa is the same. This is organic superfood enriched cocoa. It is rich in chocolate flavor. It can be used in desserts, baked goods and smoothies. I like to use it to make hot chocolate. Once it starts getting colder out, I love a good cup of hot chocolate. It's lactose free because it uses the Laird Superfood Creamer to provide the benefits and taste of coconut milk. It also contains a small amount of the coconut sugar. It's delicious and Noah has no clue that I used the cocoa powder to make no bake cookies. I like to bake when he's at school when I am trying something new. It saves on tears and arguing with him. I feel better about making desserts using Laird Superfood products as ingredients.
